The Point - May 2011 - Carrera Partners - Connections in sales and marketing
A good relationship is about honesty and compromise. In business I want to deal with people who understand that. People like Carrera Partners.

New Year, New Perspective.

Did you know that many Australians change jobs after an extended holiday, given time to reflect and revaluate their career goals?

We see more people changing roles and organisations listing new opportunities than any other time of year. The New Year is a time we broaden our horizons, adopt new resolutions, make changes and develop new skills.

Considering a new dream, team or perhaps a career change? There are many reasons for change - some common ones are:

People & Culture. A good relationship with your manager and peers, and feeling engaged in the culture of an organisation, is a big part of job satisfaction. We have found that relationship issues, lack of leadership and cultural fit are all key deciders to make a change.

Boredom. A lack of inspiration or challenge in your work is motivation to make a move.

Balance. We seek to strike it but very few seem to find it. Sometimes this results in looking at doing something completely different, or reducing work hours.

Benefits. Not receiving recognition, responsibilities, opportunities or financial rewards can impact job satisfaction. People need to feel valued and many switch careers so they feel their efforts make a difference.

Change can be a positive thing. Here’s how to get the ball rolling:

Networks. Relationships are everything. Those who know you best will understand your true value and are the ideal people to start talking to.

Strengths. Focus on what you do well to improve job satisfaction, engagement and performance.

Trend Watch. Sales and marketing is an ever-changing environment. Spend some time researching new developments and be flexible to change your strategies and move with technology and demand.

Vision. Clearly plan what it is you’re hoping to achieve and how you will succeed. Think about what you want and how you might achieve it. Keep it simple, one goal at a time and be honest with yourself.

Making a professional shift is not always easy but that doesn’t mean you have to go it alone. Think about your role, business and career to make a change for a more productive, happier you.
